Childbirth Preparation Series (Lamaze)

Do you want to feel more prepared for the labor and birth of your baby?

Our Childbirth Preparation Class is for you. Class topics include signs of labor, comfort techniques for moving through labor, medication and anesthesia for labor and birth, relaxation and breathing techniques and much more. Our Childbirth Preparation Class meets once a week, for five weeks. You should plan to finish your class approximately four weeks before your due date. What We Will Cover

Just some of the topics we’ll go over include:

  • Cesarean section birth
  • Comfort techniques for moving through labor (pelvic tilt, climbing stairs, getting up or down from floor to chair)
  • Involution of the uterus and the fourth trimester
  • Medications and anesthesia for labor and birth
  • Relaxation techniques and practice (cleaning breath, effleurage, pattern-paced breathing, overcoming the urge to push, breathing patterns for pushing stage)
  • Separation and expulsion of placenta
  • Signs of labor
  • Welcome to parenthood and postpartum

Each class is 2 hours long.

This is a five-week series. Classes meet Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 7-9 p.m.

The ideal time to take this class is between your fourth and sixth months of pregnancy.

No, there are no prerequisites for this class.
