The USC Verdugo Hills Hospital (USC-VHH) Foundation is supported by several auxiliary groups, which help raise funds and contribute to the philanthropic effort.

Women’s Council

The Women’s Council of the USC-VHH Foundation was founded shortly after the hospital opened its doors in 1972. The Women’s Council was formally established on June 20, 1973, with more than 200 members meeting for a garden champagne brunch at the home of Sue Lindstrom.

The mission of the Women’s Council is to promote and advance the welfare of USC-VHH and its staff and patients through fundraising and friend-raising events conducted within the hospital and surrounding communities.

Since its founding, the Women’s Council has raised over $3 million for hospital programs and services.

Caduceus Society

Formed in 1982, the Caduceus Society is composed of philanthropic physician leaders, whose membership is an integral part of USC-VHH’s financial support. Funds raised are used to purchase medical equipment and support initiatives such as clinical education, facility improvements, patient experience, uncompensated care and the Medical Staff Endowment Fund.

Philanthropic support from the medical staff of USC-VHH is critical to the hospital’s success. Through annual dues, physicians generously continue a personal and professional relationship with the community and the hospital, underscoring the importance of the mission of providing the community with exceptional care. USC-VHH’s Caduceus Society is one of the few remaining active groups of its kind in the country.

Over the years, the society has donated and reinvested over $1 million into the hospital, funding equipment and programs that provide direct, positive impact on patient care across all medical disciplines. Additionally, the Caduceus Society–supported Medical Staff Endowment Fund is the first endowed fund at USC-VHH to reach the $1 million mark.

Ambassadors

To complement these vital and long-standing auxiliary groups, the USC-VHH Foundation also has an Ambassador Program. Ambassadors are friends of the hospital, who in addition to personally giving, share their passion for this critical community resource with their neighbors, colleagues and friends by hosting fundraising events, organizing supply drives, promoting social media networking and crowdfunding, or sharing special talents and connections to raise awareness and increase USC-VHH’s circle of friends.

Ambassador activities can include:

  • Collecting and donating much-needed personal protection equipment for our frontline health care workers
  • Holding fundraising events, such as a local restaurant dine-out night, at-home mixers, school bake sale, etc.
  • Requesting donations be made to the hospital in lieu of birthday gifts or in honor of other special occasions in your life. You can do this quite easily through the Foundation’s Facebook page.
  • Setting up your own fundraising site. If you have an ongoing fundraising project you’d like to organize on behalf of the hospital, we can help you set up a site like this one.
