Critical Care

The Critical Care Department at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital encompasses three patient care areas: intensive care unit (ICU); critical care unit (CCU) telemetry; and 5 South. Each of these units offers continuous and comprehensive monitoring based on the extent of the patient’s illness or disease. The ICU/CCU treats critically ill patients, with a maximum nursing ratio of 2:1 (providing one nurse for every two patients). The telemetry Unit serves as a unit between the ICU and the Medical/Surgical Unit. A major pillar of USC Verdugo Hills Hospital is its dedicated core of volunteers. Established in 1972, the Volunteer Services Department attracts, retains and recognizes qualified in-service volunteers. Currently, there are more than 100 dedicated volunteers, ranging in age from 16 to 84, who provide their time and talent as volunteers in many areas in the hospital. The caliber of individuals working as hospital volunteers is exceptional; many are retired professionals and business people. Last year, volunteers contributed more than 6,000 hours of service. Beginnings Class This free introductory class will help mom and her birth partner understand the changes in her body as she and baby grow.
