The Wound Care program is an outpatient facility specializing in the healing of chronic, non-healing wounds. It is staffed by physicians, nurses, and technicians with advanced training in wound management. Treatment may include debridement, revascularization, growth factor therapy, skin grafting, and comprehensive therapy.

When you visit the USC Verdugo Hills Hospital Wound Care Program, our staff will examine your wound and ask you some questions about your general health. They will also review your medical history and may request special tests to help them gather information about blood and oxygen flow to the wound area.

After a thorough analysis of your test results and medical history, our Wound Care team will design a treatment program that is based on your special needs. The program may include regular visits to the Wound Care Center to provide treatment and evaluate your progress. You may also be given detailed instructions on how to care for your wound at home.

Many health plans cover wound care treatment. Your coverage depends on your specific health plan. Please bring your insurance information with you on your first visit to our Wound Care Center.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is now available at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital. HBOT is a medical treatment given in a comfortable, climate-controlled, see-through chamber. HBOT is an effective adjunctive therapy used in conjunction with advanced wound care. HBOT works throughout your entire body as the increased level of oxygen enters the blood and body tissues. Specialized wound care, including HBOT, is often necessary for optimal treatment of chronic non-healing wounds.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a proven treatment for:

  • Chronic Refractory Osteomyelitis
  • Lower Extremity Diabetic Ulcers
  • Radiation Cystitis
  • Radiation Necrosis
  • Failed Skin Grafts
